FluxFlood at the ASLO-SIL conference in Montreal, Canada
Last week, the FluxFlood project participated in the ASLO-SIL Conference in Montreal, Canada. The congress brought together freshwater and marine scientists to exchange methodological approaches across scales and foster collaboration among researchers, stakeholders, and indigenous knowledge holders to address challenges facing aquatic ecosystems and water resources.
During the conference, we exchanged knowledge, shared scientific ideas, and discussed the opportunities and challenges currently facing aquatic science and environmental research. We also presented results from the FluxFlood project, highlighting the role of hydrological dynamics in regulating greenhouse gas emissions from river-floodplain systems and the importance of high-frequency monitoring for improving carbon budget estimates.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to receive valuable feedback and gain inspiration from cutting-edge research conducted around the world. It was also a great occasion to meet with existing collaborators and establish new scientific partnerships.
We are returning with new ideas and perspectives that will support the further development of the FluxFlood project and our understanding of greenhouse gas dynamics in floodplain ecosystems.
